Severino Reyes was the fifth of five children born in 1861 in Santa Cruz, Manilla.

He worked in various sectors while in school, including making films and translating literary works into Spanish and Tagalog.

Reyes was arrested and imprisoned for being a member of the Katipunan, a revolutionary army dedicated to overthrowing the Spaniards who ruled the Philippines.

It is critical to recognize Severino Reyes’ cultural importance as well as the importance of his literary works.

Severino is widely regarded as one of the most famous and well-known Filipino writers of the early twentieth century.

Not only was Severino a gifted and prolific writer, but he also founded the Grand Compania de Zarzuela Tagala, a traveling performance company.

This particular company became quite successful, and it performed in front of large crowds in a number of towns and provinces.

He was fluent in Tagalog, Spanish, Latin, Greek, Hebrew, and a number of Philippine languages.
